swashbuckling novels (1934)
I said, last post, that Tarzan comics Harold Foster on The Bold 1935, is not his first appearance in Italy.
The daily strips of 1929 appear in 1934, quite loudly, a publication for children, or the series of fiction novels hood sword and published by Mondadori, from number 24:
Note covers Boccasile Gino, whose guilty Oblivion has recently tried to repair Paola Biribanti
with a nice essay, published by Castelvecchi:

But it's not the great Gino, we're talking about. In the second and third cover, glossy white, is beautifully printed, in fact, the Foster Tarzan:
Tarzan™ © Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc.
Harold Foster, as I said earlier, in 1929, is "born" - talking about comics - already fully mature:
Mondadori Publication of the 1934/35 makes it full justice: indeed, it is the unique (apart from the original antique newspapers!) not to trim a few millimeters of the base, which also contain the copyright. Here is a comparison of the first strip published by Mondadori and the corresponding prima ristampa americana, apparsa sul Tarzan Book n° 1 del 1929:
I romanzi di cappa e spada n. 24
Tarzan Book n° 1
